Do I need experience to start Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in Boonton?
No. Most members start with zero experience. Our beginner-friendly classes teach fundamentals step by step, and your first class is free.
Am I too old or out of shape for Jiu Jitsu?
No. One of our members started Jiu Jitsu at 57. Coaches scale every drill to your fitness level, and you build conditioning as you train.
Do you offer kids Jiu Jitsu classes?
Yes. Our kids Jiu Jitsu program is designed to be fun while teaching real self-defense, confidence and discipline.
I wrestled in high school or college. Is adult wrestling for me?
Absolutely. Many of our adult wrestlers haven't been on a mat in 20 years. You'll ease back in with people who get it, and beginners are welcome too.
What's the difference between Jiu Jitsu and wrestling?
Wrestling focuses on takedowns and control, while Brazilian Jiu Jitsu adds submissions and fighting from your back. Together they make a complete grappling game, and many members train both.
What should I bring to my first class?
Comfortable athletic clothes without zippers, a water bottle and flip-flops for off the mat. If you have a gi, bring it; if not, we'll help you get started.
Is Jiu Jitsu safe?
Yes. Coaches control the intensity, beginners learn to tap early, and our no-ego culture means partners look after each other.
How much does it cost?

Where is Community Jiu Jitsu located?
We train in Boonton, New Jersey, about 10 to 20 minutes from Rockaway, Denville, Mountain Lakes, Parsippany-Troy Hills, Lake Hiawatha, Montville, Pine Brook and Lincoln Park.
